As a planned protest is set to take off 1st August, 2024 in some selected cities in Nigeria, A former Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant(Alimosho 01), Hon Otunba Kayode Matthew Akintomo is urging residents of Alimosho federal constituency to remain calm and avoid violence.
He made this call in a tell chat with the Chief Media Editor of Brooom Nigeria, Prince Babatunde Kolawole. While appealing to Nigerians to continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The protest organized by a faceless advocacy group, aims to bring attention to hunger and bad governance . However, concerns have raised it that the protest has been hijacked.
The philanthropist said Govt understand the frustrations that have led to this protest, but that Nigerians must ensure that their voices are heard through peaceful means. Otunba called on residence of his constituency to remain calm, respectful, and law-abiding.
“We value the right to peaceful assembly, but we must also prioritize public safety,” said Hon Kayode while calling for more visible police presence to ensure that the protest remains peaceful.
Hon Kayode Matthew Akintomo urged residents to come together in a spirit of unity and respect, even in the face of disagreement.
